Very important UPS and FedEx updates on Courier Letter and Parcel services from Spain

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

Two new buletins have come in today of which all Spanish courier users must be aware.
UPS is no longer going to keep trying to deliver undeliverable parcels. FedEx is warning of another potential disruption from volcanic ash clouds.

From 1st June UPS Spain have advised that they will not hold over undeliverable items for more than one week after notification that the package is not deliverable. If they are unable to contact the recipient they email us as the sender and ask for confirmation of the name, address, telephone number and any other contact details we can give. We pass this request direct to the customer or to the Citibox office that took the order. The reponse must be immediate because, after one week of trying, UPS will now dispose of the parcel as undeliverable rather than return it to the customer. Please note that the return to Spain, if requested, will be at full UPS rates and not at the highly discounted rate that Citibox offers to its customers on export from Spain.

FedEx Spain have passed the following warning:
Grímsvötn Volcano, which erupted on Sunday, May 22 in Iceland, is producing a limited impact on the operations of FedEx.
Since the volcanic ash cloud changes direction, some customers may experience delays in the delivery of their shipments. We will monitor the situation and contingency plans in place to ensure our customers receive the best possible service.

For the latest information on the movement of ash cloud, we advise customers to consult www.eurocontrol.int which is currently showing the cloud as beginning to creep over Northern Scotland.

There is no way of knowing whether there will be further strikes in Paris which will affect all FedEx operations as this is their European hub. Gloomy times for all of us struggling to get our customers’ shipments to their destination but Citibox will change carrier as necessary to obtain the swiftest delivery according to the circumstances.

Citibox slash Courier prices from Spain to South America, Russia and Africa.

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

Citibox aims to give the very best value for money in Courier of Letters, Parcels, Packages and Luggage from Spain to all International destinations. Value for money is a balance between low cost and excellent service. To ensure the service side, Citibox only deal with FedEx and UPS, the two American giants of the industry. To ensure lowest cost courier (we are the only internet courier site in Spain) we constantly strive to drive down costs.

Well, despite the high cost of crude oil (that can’t have escaped your attention) and the fact that courier fees increased in 2011 and IVA (VAT) went up in 2010 Citibox have yet to raise their prices. In fact, to South America or the Caribbean we have just knocked 1/3 off the cost of sending 70kg. To Russia and Africa we have nearly halved the price – 70kg now costs €437 when previously it was €805. In addition we have upgraded the service where possible so, at the same price, your packages will arrive faster.

If it’s worth sending, send it by Citibox.
