Car hire in Spain – useful for Courier Services in Spain

Friday, December 24th, 2010

We are always looking for products that we can recommend as truly giving value and, although I haven’t tried booking through this company yet it looks fabulous value cheap car hire Madrid airport

Find the best deal for car hire at Madrid airport, using the this leading hire comparison site.  Only €46.25 for 7 days’ hire of a Peugeot 207 from 14th to 21st January from Málaga airport is incredible value.

Because of the low car hire costs in Spain, I quite often hire a car if I am going to do a long trip – why put the miles on your own car when you can hire one?  If you have any sort of problem the car hire agency will sort it and organise a replacement.  The only problem I have had is having a traffic violation ticket sent to my UK credit card address for crossing a double white line – I paid up because I was guilty and you don’t want this sort of thing on your record over here!

The quotes from comparecarhire.co.uk are roughly half of what I used to pay to one of their competitors and I thought they were cheap!  I will be hiring from them in January when I will drive right around Spain visiting customers from Andalucía to Barcelona and back via Valencia and Madrid – madness not to!

Weather, strike action and holidays combine to interfere with Spanish Courier Services.

BBC news last night had two articles bound to interest all of us with connections to Northern Europe and abroad.  Spanish Air Traffic Controllers are going on strike closing Spanish air-space.  Most of Britain’s airports are still closed or suffering long delays (to say nothing of its roads).  Add to this the fact that many Spaniards will take a “puente”, a bridge between the Monday 6th and Wednesday 8th public holidays and much of Spain will be closed to the outside world from today until next Thursday.

Citibox’ business is about moving parcels.  This is the most frantic time of year in the run-up to Christmas with Christmas presents to and from Spain being moved by the tonne (or not being moved).  As I have previously written, I’m not leaving any Christmas internet shopping for delivery to Spain beyond Monday 6th December.

Already, I have stopped ordering from my wonderful Chinese eBay supplier because I can’t rely on the goods reaching the UK on time, and this weekend we’re going to place those final orders from Amazon, Lakeland, 7 Day Shop, Hawkins Bazaar, M&S (yes they have a Marbella outlet but it is not very good) and Waitrose (Occado).  And, of course Turners Bacon Company that wonderful Bond Street supplier.

If you want your goods from the UK in time for Christmas please buy them now.  If you are going to use FedEx Economy to send your Christmas presents to the UK, please send everything before 15th December.

Remember that the UK closes down between Christmas and New Year, Spain closes down between New Year and Tres Reyes (6th January) so there is a two week period from 24th December to 7th January when nothing much will happen at all – you have been warned!
